I'll try to dig up the artist, but this is from a Tired City shop, Hà Nội, Vietnam. The imagery felt too real.

Sorry, I'm spoiling the best picture I took by far during this trip. We regret not buying this--spotted in Fahasa bookstore in Vietnam.

Every time I go into a supermarket or a mall here in Vietnam, I feel like when Boris Yeltsin visited a US supermarket in the Cold War.

"We could have this in the USA?! And it's cheaper here!?"

Aeon Mall changed me.

you can def network vertically, but prioritize networking horizontally

surround yourself with kind, hardworking, and talented friends, and it’s only a matter of time before your careers go places

also: if you can’t take an opportunity, pass it on to a friend who’d do just as well if not better
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.
Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

One of the most underrated design skills in games is graphic design for things like decals and fake branding for posters/stickers/flyers/books/props/signs/displays.

We take this stuff for granted and yet they are very much a world building detail that adds so much more life to environments.

The thread has sources!!?

Not just prevent--reverse?!
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

Reading this, all you have to remember is that OpenAI itself reports 800,000,000 weekly users, of which apparently 0,15% are having conversations related to self-harm, and OpenAI is aware that its systems can and do fail in preventing further harm. It's just too profitable to stop, I guess.

Layton games encourage us to think critically. Even if we sometimes cheat for those picarats because of perfectionism problems, the games encourage us to use our brains. Just saying.

As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

I don't know how many pieces of media portray Santa Claus with tattoos aside from Violent Night and Rise of the Guardians, but I think it's a cool concept I wouldn't mind seeing more often.

SO, you want to network but don't know where to begin.

1. DON'T. Make friends instead
2. It's not about what they can do for you
3. Famous people are just people first
4. If you do have to gush, don't just say 'i love your work' , pick one thing and say why. Open ended compliments are awkward

They have come to the convention hoping to "break in" and then find themselves -- shocker! -- a "nobody in the book world." Yeah no shit! We all are! I have gently told guys like this a million times that it takes most of us *years* of hard work but they do not believe that could be true for them. +

I've found this to be true for the translation industry too. Making friends and supporting each other (building a network of amazing people) can open potential doors, but it takes years to build up those relationships.

Fellow translators aren't competition, they're colleagues and friends.

I still think revolving hot pot is fun and tasty. I had it the last time I was in Vietnam, and in the 5+ years since, USA hasn't done it yet that I know of. Since I'm back, I had it again! You get your own pot, and the ingredients revolve! The chain is Kichi Kichi, I think.

I thought there was only 1 AI app that undressed people and also worked on children. Why are there 29 of them.
In a new paper in the journal Violence Against Women, researcher Kaylee Williams examines a set of “nudify” apps through the lens of tech-facilitated gender-based violence, evaluating their affordances, marketing material, and policies. Tim Bernard unpacks the findings:

My dad's been hospitalized for 3 years from multiple brain aneurysms. I've apologized to the necessary people, in private, because audiences aren't owed shit that's meant to be between me and those I've hurt. "For the victims", bah, you're just nosey. Leave. ME. ALONE. I'M TIRED. I'M HURT ENOUGH.
