A letter signed by more than 100 organisations was sent to Hoekstra, asking not to bring fossil fuel lobbyists to COP30 🇧🇷

👍 Promisingly, there were no lobbyists in the official EU delegation last year

👎EU Member States still brought 113 lobbyists

More than 100 organisations tell Hoekstra not to bring fossil fuel lobbyists to COP30! - Fossil Free Politics
As COP30 approaches, we're now calling on the EU's climate chief, Commissioner Wopka Hoekstra, to not bring fossil fuel lobbyists to the UN climate talks again this year, and to push member states to ...

6/ Therefore if its lobbyists can't tick the box, why should TotalEnergies be allowed to attend the UN climate talks in Brazil this November, aka COP30, which are working towards the goals of the Paris Agreement? It openly makes a mockery of the process.

5/ Now that a court has ruled that TotalEnergies' so-called "Paris-aligned" plan of being "net-zero emissions by 2050" is in fact greenwashing, and it's no longer able to claim such things, TotalEnergies is *not* "in full alignment" with "the goals and principles of the Paris Agreement"

4/ Thanks to years of hard work by the Kick Big Polluters Out campaign (which we're a member of), participants at this year's UN climate talks in Belém, Brazil, aka COP30, have to confirm if their participation is in "full alignment" with "the goal and principles of the Paris Agreement"

3/ "net-zero emissions by 2050" was the agreed goal of the Paris Agreement, signed at UN climate talks in 2015, aka COP21.

Since then, many fossil fuel companies, including Total, have adopted net zero plans while continuing with fossil fuel production, but have got away with it (until now).

2/ A three year battle by Fossil Free Politics member @amisdelaterre.org has seen the courts find French 🇫🇷 oil and gas major TotalEnergies guilty of greenwashing, in particular its narrative of reaching "net zero emissions by 20250".

French court convicts TotalEnergies of greenwashing over climate claims
Judges ruled on Thursday that the energy giant had misled consumers by overstating its carbon neutrality goals. The case could set a potential precedent for corporate climate advertising.

1/ 🤔 indulge us in an exercise of logic, spread over a few posts

TL;DR? a new court ruling and a new disclosure mechanism should ban 🇫🇷 French oil & gas major ⛽ TotalEnergies from participating at COP30 in Brazil.

📢 CSOs are currently facing an attack spearheaded by some MEPs from the EPP and far-right groups.
We urge MEPs to fight back against these attacks, in the committees and in the Plenary, and stand by the side of citizens and civil society.

Big banks admit catastrophic warming is coming—but instead of working to prevent it, they’re positioning to profit. This is how the energy transition is hijacked: public money funneled into industries that prioritize shareholder payouts (friendsoftheearth.eu/publication/...) over real solutions.

"Save" the industry? More like save us from its myths. 🏭
The story goes: industry in the Netherlands (and much of the EU) is in crisis. The supposed fix? Less regulation, more public money.

😢 But let’s dry those crocodile tears. 😢

🚨 Back to protest mode

Tomorrow, @ec.europa.eu will announce #Omnibus, but we've seen the leaked text: it's a direct assault on the EU sustainability framework & dramatic for the #CSDDD

It's not simplification, but full-scale deregulation designed to dismantle corporate accountability

The Clean Industrial Deal clearly prioritises corporate interests over climate action and public welfare. The notion that industry needs more capital to decarbonise is deceptive—loosening state aid rules and using public funds to ‘de-risk’ private investment will not drive the needed transition.
The @ec.europa.eu has revealed its gameplan for the coming years and it looks like Climate Ambition will be the biggest loser 🚨

Some of our takeaways:👇

🔴 Live right now!

We're in front of the @ec.europa.eu again urging decisionmakers to end the #Omnibus frenzy ➕ stick to their promise to #HoldBizAccountable.

This is not about cutting red tape. It's deregulation at the expense of people and climate.

The same companies were lobbying tirelessly for billion-Euro subsidies to maintain their competitiveness and as contribution to their green transition.

The report makes it clear: the problem is not a lack of money, but their prioritisation of shareholder payouts over investment.

Shell distributed 97% of their profits to shareholders, Total energies 86%, and others like Eni and BP provided payouts that exceeded their profits.

The Clean Industrial Deal narrative is built on false premises. Energy-intensive industries have enjoyed significant profits over the past decade—not a shortage of capital.
