I like to cook. I like to eat. I’m more into cats than dogs. Favorite color is green. Biggest wish is to give it all up and farm.
Prepping for a potluck at work. I’m bringing my take on an old cocktail snack, devil on horseback. I use goat cheese to stuff the dates, then bacon wrap with soy sauce and brown sugar. Ran out of bacon, sadly.

The weirdest part of my new job isn’t the cybersecurity stuff. It’s all the standard tech stuff that has been completely neglected for years. DNS, DHCP, SMB signing, NTLM version control, VLANs or lack thereof, just all the basic stuff.

I find my forehead sore all the time from the slaps it gets.

I was very torn about that guy at work. But they fired him and all my concern mostly went away.

I still hope Max gets it together, though. He was having a rough time of it.

My new job (as of the end of April) is going great. Lots of improvements, lots of tools configurations, lots of detections to investigate.

It’s the people stuff that is taking the most time and effort to make good.

When I was hired, my bosses told me they were looking for leaders. 1/?

Came upon this mindmap that lists what cybersecurity professionals really do and think about, and I keep feeling like there’s missing subjects… rafeeqrehman.com/wp-content/u...

I think this is my favorite song. I've been lucky enough to see Charlie Parr play in person a few times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLOw...

Today's a big day. It's my 24th wedding anniversary!

It's also my last day of working for a company for almost 12 years.

New job is pretty great. They have sharks in big saltwater tank money.

Today I handed in my resignation for a job I’ve had for almost 12 years.

New job is much more focused, appreciative, and eager to try new things.

Today felt good. I’ll remember today for the rest of my life.

Just a reminder to anyone out there: let your shoulders drop. They should not be pulled in tight against your ears or neck.

Let that tension go, even if just for a moment.

Y'ALL, my brother made something neat. He's not on here so I'll post for him, but would you like to waste ai data scrapers by getting them stuck in a virtual tarpit? Now you can! :D

Today is my birthday. I turned 47. All I wanted was for my kitchen and dishes to be cleaned.

Yet my wife and kids laughed at me and told me that was silly.

Dishes are still dirty.

Guess I know what I’m getting myself this year.

Last week I bought myself Dave the Diver and oh man I’m glad I took this week off at work.

I’m hooked. Playing for long sessions every day.

It’s so good. Can’t recommend enough.

There are far fewer stupider or slower people than those in the self checkout area when I am in the line for the self checkout.

I mean, really. Have you never seen a barcode before? And why aren’t you taking your full cart of 150 items to a regular checkout with a clerk?

Age yourself with a movie you saw in theatre as a kid.

Do you think narcoleptics get frustrated when people talk about "sleeps til christmas"?
December 11, 2024 at 3:43 PM
For xmas this year I bought my brother-in-law and his wife (my co-sis) matching longswords. I thought it was a cool thing people often don't buy for themselves but deep down inside really want.

Anyway, USPS has apparently lost the package. I've filed a search request for it, but it's probably gone.

media clearly know how to cover victims and avoid victim-blaming narratives, because I haven't seen any rush to demonize the UnitedHealth CEO by bringing up the insider trading or his DUI or his secret separation

It seems to me that the time is ripe for a Bluesky thread about how—and maybe even why—to befriend crows.

I'm curious, as I've had a couple scam attempts aimed at me recently. Do I look susceptible? Sure, I have a grey beard, which means I'm "old", but... do I look old enough to fall for a scam?

Maybe it's not personal, and there's just wide net-casting involved here, but... I'm gen-x.
