And this will not change. The logic is fairly transparent. They’ll jail and deport undocumented folks, and when crime rates fail to drop or even rise, it will rationalize intensified state violence. Meanwhile, private incarcerators will get richer.
Rampell: If you look at whom Trump prioritized for deportation in his first term, it was not the criminals. He released more convicted criminals convicted and charged criminals into the US than Biden did because he was filling up his jails with asylum seekers and TPS recipients
