Alternative history isn’t a jumble of fringe theories—it’s a deliberate ideology designed to sow distrust in history and archaeology in order to replace them with its own "hidden truths." To do this, it preys on people's credulity, spinning myths of lost civilizations and advanced ancient tech.

One reason these “pronatalist” proposals won’t work is that they’re organised around a family model that is highly unusual & involves relatively novel gender roles.

Petition to have “traditional” family values renamed: Conservative? Novel? Unnatural…?

The Trump regime is now using US Attorneys to intimidate academic journals by sending them letters demanding they explain how they ensure ‘viewpoint diversity.’ Journal editors should be public about this and coordinate to refuse to comply with these fascist tactics.

AI industry giants owe their existence to taxpayer-funded, open research, but many have abandoned this collaborative model. I spoke to The Atlantic about how US science and tech leadership was built on shared knowledge. When companies hoard research, innovation suffers and accountability declines.
Donald Trump is dismantling the foundations of American science—and in turn jeopardizing the AI boom he purports to champion, writes Matteo Wong:
A Disaster for American Innovation

The logical endpoint of the arguments, promoted by the "heterodox" crowd, that peer review is "censorship" & academic freedom is equivalent to freedom of speech 👇 Science dies, because science depends on evaluation of evidence (peer review) & criticism of bad ideas (not counter to academic freedom)
Here NIH officials target contracts that "may be related to any form of censorship at all or *directing people to believe one idea over another regarding health outcomes*."

Directing people to believe one idea over another regarding health outcomes IS public health. It's also education.
Here's the internal e-mail that outlines all this.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.
