Just a guy in the Paris of Northern Utah.
There’s something that feels fundamentally wrong about being in Mid-November, living at 4500’ elevation, and sitting out on a patio at 10 PM in a light hoodie.

Slowly assembling gear for a bikepacking rig, watching a guy’s 6-part YouTube series where he scientifically tests cooking stoves & pots for weight & fuel efficiency. I do this often when I’m making the most minor purchases, but when I buy a car it’s like *shrug* that one’s cool, I guess.

The grocery store is selling Terry’s Chocolate Oranges again. The next two months will not be kind to my body. I am weak.

Squid Game, but upon realizing the consequence of losing is death, all the miserably depressed contestants immediately lose on purpose.

Reading the titles of anime movies makes me exhausted. It might be the first movie of an original property, but I already feel out of the loop w/ titles like Ninja Hackers - Infinity Gauntlet: The Movie: Deus Ex Machina!

Frankenstein (film): Not a completely faithful adaptation — maybe 60% — but the bones, themes, & story beats are there. Some of the changes felt a little flat while others worked great, but I enjoyed it quite a bit overall. It’s got heart and humanity, which is what matters most!

Biking from work to the gym, doing leg day, then biking home. What a terrible idea! Nobody could’ve ever foreseen this. There was nothing we could’ve done.

Hubie Halloween is the greatest Halloween movie ever made.

Little kids are the worst. They’re this explosive ball of unending energy, who then lay down and are out almost immediately. I’m tired ALL the time. I lay down & I’m up until an hour before I gotta go to work.

As much as I like to complain about the cloudless sunny skies of Utah, I do love the rare occasions we get a lightning storm & it’s a spectacle for everyone to appreciate. I can see many of my neighbors on their porches or at their windows with the lights off. It’s beautiful.

Vallée D’Auge Chicken (food): A perfect autumn dish of mushrooms, shallot, & chicken thighs in a creamy apple cider infused sauce poured over butter-fried apples. This was a first attempt & sweet merciful cosmic crisp it will not be the last! Absolutely divine!

After living in my apartment for 10 years, I’ve finally received confirmation from a downstairs neighbor that I cannot be heard walking (my floors creak) & my guitar playing can only be heard if it’s really quiet, but is still not bad. Curse this undue stress I’ve lived with!

Everyday I’m like, “This bowl of muesli & a banana will be a great idea for breakfast!” and every afternoon I battle my demons in the quietest office building where even silent farts explode eardrums.

All That Jazz (film): One of those great, “Why’d it take so long to see this?!” films — but also confirms my disdain for the 1970s. The gross, sweaty, smelly, ugly ass 70s. The only other time in the modern era I can’t stand is the 1800s. Just… y’know… all of it. All of the 1800s.

I went to Haiti in 2007, fresh out of high school, w/ a group of peers to assist a rehabilitation mission. We went to the Thursday night concert at Hotel Oloffson, saw RAM & a reggae artist, & had a great time. This is a shame. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Once a haven for the world’s rich and famous, the landmark hotel was burned down this month as violence gripped Port-au-Prince
