Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

The Republicans hold majorities in both houses of Congress and the Supreme Court and hold the White House and they could pass basically whatever agenda they would care to enact, but they have instead decided on a unique strategy of letting someone unelected do crimes all over the federal government.

The basic principle behind affirmative action is that we should give working class folks and minorities a chance, instead of incompetent morons who just happened to be born into rich families. You can't tell me Buckley Carlson is the most qualified person to be the VP's deputy secretary.
The DEI is coming from inside the house. It's him haranguing and firing the whole of the federal government so it can be "inclusive" of people who paid him off.
Media framing of events is a choice. Trump frames event in way that I think most reporters understand is nonsense.

There is a real story about what happens to state capacity over the next 4 years that is better told through specific events like this rather than in abstract.
