Today I heard a woman say, in earnest, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” and I would like to remind everyone that you don’t have to live like this. You don’t have to prioritize thinness over connection, celebration, and traditions. Thinness doesn’t have to be a goal.

An amazing essay by my lovely advisor, @rmesch.bsky.social. Her story is so important and eerily similar to my own (recent) experience in my old PhD program, and one that is, unfortunately, rather common. It’s such a joy when you have a delightful mentor ❤️
I wrote a piece about a certain flavor of academic abuse. I have carried parts of this story for upwards of 25 yrs, & I’m grateful to @chronicle.com for helping me to tell it.
