Death does have a weapon but isn't a scythe, no God gifted him something else. The first crafted weapon, a spear. Death's spear has a shaft made of bone with a void black tip, in the center of which is a black hole. The tips shape is a simple diamond shape.

In Fields of Metal Death does have a reaping tool though it takes the form of whatever harvesting tool the soul is most familiar with. Asking Death about scythes specifically will typically get an answer like this "That was merely the result of Europeans seeing me during the Black Plague."

Within Fields of Metal Death has no true form. Typically though he would present himself to the Mage families as that time period and area's version of a mortician. After seeing Julian Richings portrayal of him in Supernatural Death began taking a form similar to Julian's portrayal.

In the lore of Fields of Metal the first two beings to be created by God were Death and Life, the keepers of balance. Death views the other beings throughout mythology and religion as his descendents. In turn these beings hold him as an esteemed ancestor or even father depending on the being.

Fun fact: Due to the fact that one of the main responsibilities of the Lupis mage family is controlling the cryptid population one of their passive abilities is negating healing and regeneration abilities(magic or otherwise)
