Another school year done! And what a year it has been. I learnt a lot, struggled to find then finally awarded a promotion for next year which meant saying goodbye to the best team of teachers I've ever worked with.
Excited for what opportunities that will come next year, but right now, time to relax

Public holiday in my city, so a much needed 3 day long weekend. I have 3 classes of drafts to review and provide feedback plus catch up on all the things I have let fall away the past week. End of term exhaustion but I've only slept in until 7am! Two weeks to go until holidays!

🚨New to teaching Physics? 🚨If you are worried about anything related to Physics teaching for the new academic year, send me a message. Lack of resources, upskilling subject knowledge and that kind of thing. I will do all that I can to help you 🙂

My year 12s have one more lesson of content and then we have revision until their exam in October. These last few lessons have dragged on for them as I really just want to get them practicing and revising concepts

My feed is so full with education chat, I can't keep up but I love it!

An email to a parent was auto corrected to "Kathmandu" instead of "regards, Karen" as I apologised for sending a blank email. Technology has it out for me today 🤦‍♀️

My pre-service teacher has got the halfway mark.
Mentoring ITEs is tough some days, I go about my daily business then remember I need to wait for my shadow and explain my thinking for all my actions. I think it makes me a better teacher because I have to pause and think, why am I doing this?

Have a PST at the moment, so my lesson preparation each day is a little bit different at the moment. I can put a bit more time into the lessons I am still taking, and think about what observations I need to focus on to build their teaching skills.

Great thread! 👇🏼#edusky
You want to improve teacher recruitment?

-Focus on school behaviour so they are spaces of calm, safety and dignity.
You want to improve teacher retention?
-Focus on behaviour, so the teaching space is purposeful and free from disruption.

Ugh, Monday mornings.
Week 7 of term, too much to do, so I better start getting ready.
Good news is that no cats were locked in pantry overnight but the dry throat from my cold kept me tossing around so sleep was still interrupted. End-of-term exhaustion is not fun but my garden makes me smile

4am good morning here after going searching for a noise downstairs. Cat locked in pantry and the mess that comes from that. At least it wasn't intruders which is what my mind was worried it would be.
Now.... do I clean up the mess or leave it for the person who locked the cat in?

Peter Dutton's calls to ban refugees from Gaza have proved too much for some MPs
The opposition leader's capacity to conflate a range of hot button issues, half-truths and misleading assertions is only matched by the federal government's often flat-footed capacity to respond.
