Fact Check: Epstein Email Released by House Panel Says Trump “Knew About the Girls”
Claim: Democrats on the U.S. House Oversight Committee released an email in November 2025 in which Jeffrey Epstein alleged that President Donald Trump “knew about the girls.” (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Rating: True Explanation: On Nov. 12, 2025, Democratic lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee released more than 20,000 pages of Epstein Files obtained earlier under subpoena. The release was announced publicly in a committee statement here: Oversight Committee Releases Additional Epstein Estate Documents. Those documents followed an August subpoena of Epstein’s estate, first reported here: AP News—House Committee Subpoenas Jeffrey Epstein’s Estate. Included in the November document release was a Jan. 31, 2019, email Epstein reportedly sent to author Michael Wolff. In the message, Epstein wrote that “of course he [Trump] knew about the girls,” apparently referencing his victims. The Oversight Democrats also published the email in their press release: House Oversight Committee Releases Jeffrey Epstein Email Correspondence. Wolff confirmed in a video posted to Instagram that the emails released by Congress were authentic correspondence between himself and Epstein. Snopes has also verified the emails and maintains a full list of claims about Trump’s relationship with Epstein here: 17 Rumors About Trump and Epstein, Fact-Checked. The White House told Snopes that the redacted victim referenced in the email was Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre—whose story is detailed here in a CBS News profile: Virginia Giuffre, in Her Own Words—died in April 2025. She accused Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell of sex trafficking but did not accuse Trump of wrongdoing. In her posthumous memoir, outlined in this AP report: Virginia Giuffre Memoir Set for Release, Giuffre said Trump was friendly during their only meeting at Mar-a-Lago. The White House said the email was being taken out of context and pointed to Trump’s past claim that Epstein had been removed from the club—comments previously reported here: BBC—Trump Says Epstein “Stole” Young Women From His Spa. Because the email was indeed contained in the Oversight Committee’s November 2025 release, the claim is accurate. Progressive Katie Wilson Defeats Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell
Seattle, Washington — Community organizer Katie Wilson is projected to defeat incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell in Seattle’s mayoral race, according to Decision Desk HQ, marking one of the cycle’s biggest wins for progressives. Wilson’s campaign said Wednesday that its lead of nearly 2,000 votes had widened enough to become “insurmountable,” thanking volunteers for powering what it described as a grassroots movement. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Harrell has not conceded, and Washington only triggers an automatic recount if the margin is under 2,000 votes and less than 0.5 percent of the total vote. While the race does not currently meet the state’s threshold, Harrell could still request and fund a recount himself. The closely watched contest became another test of the growing divide between progressive and establishment Democrats in major cities, similar to recent political shifts in New York City. Wilson gradually overtook Harrell as late-counted ballots were processed throughout the week. Wilson previously beat Harrell in a crowded primary earlier in the year, though Harrell held a significant advantage in fundraising and was widely viewed as the favorite heading into the general election. Her victory marks the second notable success for progressive candidates in recent municipal elections, following the election of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City last Tuesday. Wilson’s campaign said it expects Harrell to address the city soon, adding the hashtag “#thisisYOURcity” in its statement to supporters. --- Sources: * The Hill – MBFC Rating The post Progressive Katie Wilson Defeats Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell appeared first on News Facts Network.
