What can people doing field experiments learn from a new guide to lab experiments? @berkozler12.bsky.social discusses in today's blog and doesn't find that much

When I got offered a contract job a few years ago they asked me my rate… I was going to say $35/hr. My husband pushed me to ask for $70/hr. They gave me the $70 rate. That’s the difference in having a partner who believes in you.

Unsurprisingly, today is a crash day.

You ever feel like you need deeper rest than sleep can give you? Like you need to sink into the bed and become one with the mattress? That’s where I am.

Except it’s also the day where ALL of my sister’s cats throw up.

I am honestly speechless right now.

This week I shared a graphic about the cycle of inaccessibility- when things are inaccessible, disabled people can’t participate or can only do so with struggle. Then nondisabled people don’t see us and feel justified in stating “it’s only a problem for a few.”

Zuko. He barely counts because he stopped being bad, but I love a redemption arc.
Okay, the question of the day is...

Name your first crush on a villain.

Not a real life person, that joke will land like a lead balloon.

A villain character from a cartoon, tv series, comic, book or movie.

Those who have read The Prince With Six Faces know that Max stumbles onto genderqueerness by way of a curse. Starting in the second book of the series, he experiments with using she/her on days when her body feels feminine and continues to use he in general.

I had worried the shifting pronouns-

Maybe it’s just the autism talking, but I would like someone to explain why introversion is considered the rude one when extroversion keeps imposing on people who aren’t interested.
I would always rather have assertive visual cues when someone wants to be left alone, because that helps me NOT be rude. Ignoring someone’s stated wants is SUPER rude.

In short, from an ambivert: extroverts, chill out. Learn how to be on your own for a bit. You can talk to someone later.

I said it elsewhere, I’ll say it here: if one of the accommodations I use is actively destroying the planet and stealing from innocent people to do it, I find a new accommodation. This isn’t “no ethical consumption”. This is magnitudes worse.

And no. It’s not ableist to say so.

My high school friend is reading The Bridal Party and kind of…live reacting to it. Today she was like “oh let me know if that stresses you out” and honestly, I am so tickled to know what catches her fancy and why. It’s kind of life affirming.

In fact, about two years ago, they just checked to see when my last tetanus shot was.
