Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

They are tear gassing CHILDREN.
“Mommy! Mommy! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!”

That was a 2-year-old girl's reaction when she was hit with tear gas deployed by nearby immigration agents as she played in a Chicago park.

Her mother details their story to @NBCNews

Chicago residents say kids tear-gassed due to nearby immigration enforcement
A Chicago mother tells NBC News she and her 2-year-old were hit with a chemical agent. Many residents say the city wasn’t a “war zone”— until immigration agents swept through.

We see you, Admiral Levine.

We remember your name.

And we remember what it meant -- what it still means -- to see someone like you reflected in the halls of power. 🌈

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

If you cancelled Paramount+ in protest of Colbert's cancellation, I suggest spending that subscription money on your local PBS station. The content is excellent 👌 and they really need the support.

Erasing trans people from Stonewall won’t change the truth—trans activists were on the front lines fighting for LGBTQ+ rights. They cannot make trans people disappear by denying their existence. This is nothing but cowardly historical erasure.

Just received this photo from a friend of a warehouse in Kinshasa. These are tuberculosis medications--ALREADY PAID FOR--that aren't being distributed due to the Trump Administration's stop work order.
TB treatment is being interrupted in SO many patients around the world. What does that mean? (1/2)

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

USAID matters. I've often disagreed with their strategy and choices, but their work saves more lives than any philanthropy can. It's a rounding error in the federal budget, and one of the best things we do as a country. To see it destroyed overnight by one unelected man is an unmitigated horror.
