Yesterday the UN marked The International Day of Disabled Persons. Here are four picture books I highly recommend for everyone!

Over her throat is a depiction of a small gray rock, and she is holding her right hand just beneath the rock. As a reading specialist, I'd use Goodall's picture book, DR. WHITE, with 2nd graders--a true story about a dog who visited hospital patients. Students used higher level thinking skills to answer: Should dogs be allowed in hospitals? Why/why not?
