Crooked Cross by Sally Carson
For a novel first published in 1934, Sally Carson’s Crooked Cross feels remarkably timely, charting, as it does, the rise of Nazism in the early 1930s, the falling apart of a country’s fundamental …

Very pleased to see the Giving Tree back in @waterstones.bsky.social #Norwich.

All the tags represent a book choice from one of Norfolk's looked after children and ensures they get a book for Christmas.
I didn't have time to browse today so got a voucher for staff to use picking books.

Greenery Street by Denis Mackail

Ian and Felicity marry, and buy their first house together, on Greenery Street - and the street is treated as a character in its own right. Full of period detail of every day life, funny and charming, and just managing to stay on the right side of twee.

I Swear is excellent.
About John Davidson, a brave man who has done so much to raise awareness of Tourette syndrome, and the two compassionate individuals who understood him - the power of kindness and courage. Beautiful performances;a difficult watch, both upsetting and uplifting. Hard recommend.

@divinecomedyhq.bsky.social at the Barbican, just brilliant.
Swept away by the beauty of I Want You (it was a respectful pause before we applauded, Neil!) All the new album songs were lovely, never thought I would hear Don’t Mention the War live, and Lost Property was a nice surprise.
Loved it.

The Best of Everything by @kitdewaal.com

“Paulette is mighty. She is righteous. She has heartbreak and grief and loss on her side.”
Paulette will stay with me.
A story of kindness, and its consequences.

This line broke me for a bit-
“He nods and smiles. ‘He’s mine’ he says.”

Gorgeous.

Hurrah!
Have been looking forward to this- we were there but in the choir seats so only saw from behind… (excellent view of the Jules Buckley’s percussion section though, was fascinating!)
Just spotted the St.Vincent Prom in BBC Four’s schedule for tomorrow night! (9pm Friday 26 Sep)

In case you missed it, our guests for the live show on Saturday are the wonderful Tim Key and Tom Basden, stars/writers of my favourite film of the year, THE BALLAD OF WALLIS ISLAND. So, if you’re coming on Saturday and you haven’t seen it, now’s your chance to rectify that.
