Morning 10 with no safe running water in Tunbridge Wells. The Brits are so very good at keeping calm and carrying on. Too good! I wish they were better at carrying pitchforks and storming the streets.

Anyway!

For our annual Christmas Craft WI meeting tonight, I made wrapping paper with a lino print of our members. Some are trans and some aren’t. Can you tell who is trans? Of course you can’t and it’s none of your business!

Oh good, everyone has come into work ill. That’s great. 👍👍👍👍

Morning 9 with no safe running water in Tunbridge Wells. Very bored of my special new washing up system but I did treat myself to drinking as much bottled water as I wanted yesterday and moisture is beginning to return to my body.

Morning 8 with no safe running water in Tunbridge Wells. Have developed an unhealthy obsession with reading the comments in local Facebook groups about the situation. Someone needs to study the water (pls!) but also these comment sections! I live for every unhinged statement & snide retort.

Our landlord told us today that he’ll never be able to sell our flat for what it’s worth and I was just like *for what it’s actually worth* or what you think it’s worth?? 👀

Am thinking about buying some squeezy condiment bottles to fill with bottled water to increase my accuracy when brushing my teeth and needing to use *just a little* safe water somewhere. Is that smart or am I losing my mind?

I tremendously resent how much brain space this is all taking up.

Morning 7 with no safe running water in Tunbridge Wells. Have been drinking primarily alcohol to avoid waterborne disease à la a medieval peasant and the dehydration has finally caught up with me.

Morning 6 with no *safe* running water in Tunbridge Wells. Though my water is finally back on (such a thrill to have a fully functioning toilet!) our water is not safe to consume. Conspiracy theories are brewing alongside our morning cuppas…

Genuinely had a cry in my car on the way to work about Nick Grimshaw retiring the Annie Mac Geese clip so yeah, I think you can say that I’m doing really well, actually. Definitely very stable. Some might even say I’m thriving.

What's difficult about this water situation is the way it harkens back to the uncertainty and lack of leadership in those first lockdowns in 2020 - a time & feeling I'm not particularly keen to revisit.

Morning 5 with no running water in Tunbridge Wells. Our routines are completely out the window, I'm not sleeping, the flat is chaos.

I know this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I know others have it worse, but I feel like I'm failing at everything & am struggling to cope.

Can’t believe how many people are still using Spotify ☠️

Still no water in our flat & South East Water delivered 12 litres to us tonight without our asking, which feels ominous. We spent all day with generous friends who have water, which we're grateful for, but I feel like my entire life is unravelling & I'm dropping all my spinning plates.

This is ridiculous. As someone who runs a local WI, I absolutely do not stand by this decision. Trans women are women and they're welcome in our group, even if we have to leave the WI to run it. @womensinstitute.bsky.social

Morning 4 with no running water in Tunbridge Wells. Someone posted a photo of portable toilets being installed in the centre of town - does not bode well. I reckon we have another 3 - 5 days of this. Am working very hard to maintain a comfortable level of cleanliness & find humour in this situation.

Morning 3 with no running water in Tunbridge Wells. The flat is beginning to feel like a full-on biohazard.

In the grand scheme of things this is nbd, but most of Tunbridge Wells has been without running water since Saturday evening & it's really difficult to not feel like everything about how this country is run is going down the drain when, ironically, nothing is actually going down our drains atm.

literally just did a little cry watching the trailer for the film Erin Brockovich (2000). my god do we need hope rn.

Absolutely outrageous that I've spent all day listening to BBC news updates about what Kemi Badenoch might do if conservatives get into power again instead of ANY REAL FUCKING NEWS ABOUT WHAT OUR GOVT IS DOING.

These are not serious people. None of them.

I just know that this Ryder Cup crowd is the absolute worst crowd. So many libertarians and "Just to play devil's advocate..." types.

Car alarms should light your keys up like those devices when you're queuing for PF Chang's.

Absolutely dystopian juxtaposition from the Guardian front page. Difficult to understand how anyone of decency and conscience can defend this government at this point. Just sheer moral degeneracy to arm a state that does this and arrest people for objecting. Wtf are we doing as a country?

Like all girlies, I one day hope to live in a luxury high-rise in London with no storage and floor-to-ceiling windows where I can artfully display all my garbage for everyone to see 🥰
