You know what Portland really has way too much of? Literary events. This city is overcrowded with amazing readings and workshops and socials and writers writing excellent stories. I run a weekly newsletter that features all these events and it has gotten really long. Send help. bit.ly/pdxwriteweek

Here are a bunch to get you started. If you are unfamiliar with @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social it's a digital magazine publishing short stories and poetry by Black SFFH authors for going on *counts on fingers* 10 years? Good lord. Co-founded it. Won a Hugo. Etc. go.bsky.app/VSHmC2p

Great notes from @maryrobinettekowal.com who has made the Nebulas ✨⭐️✨ year over year. Love the suggestions here to remember next year too.
At Dragoncon, I was absolutely delighted that @robertpicardo.bsky.social was the MC for the Dragon Awards. He was funny and charming, and took great care with the pronunciation of everyone's names.

And he had this really neat trick for when he didn't know how to pronounce a name

My Genre Grapevine analysis of the Anthropic AI settlement with authors. Overall, most authors got screwed with the settlement payments barely covering 7% of the books Anthropic pirated to train their generative AI system. 1/

The Anthropic Settlement details are out. Read on…
Some of the authors I follow (like @scalzi.com and @diane.dianeduane.com) have been posting a lot about the upcoming Anthropic settlement. It has now been filed to the docket, and I have looked it over (I do this sort of thing for a living). I’m sure a lot of writers have a lot of questions about it
