Seamus Culleton speaks with Kieran Cuddihy. He said that detainees have been killed by staff where he is being held. The conditions in which he is being held are appalling.

I've been listening to Seamus Culleton, his sister and others speaking about his detention by ICE in the US. It's really shocking.

Thank you. It's horrendous.

On December 28, 2024, the IDF kidnapped Dr Hussam Abu Safiya from his post as pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza. He had refused to abandon his patients. He has been held in Israeli prison without charges ever since, tortured, starved, refused family visits.
This is absolutely heartbreaking

Dr. Hossam's lawyers warns: his heart is exhausted, his body shattered from continuous torture, & the freezing temperatures in his cell are worsening his suffering.

Do not let the voice of the doctor who saved lives fade away 💔

It's a year today since Mary took her life.

"What though the radiance that was once so bright,
be now forever taken from my sight.
Though nothing can bring back the hour
of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
strength in what remains behind.

St Brigid's Day is #OTD. Brigid's actual existence is debated. She is given different birth and death dates. UCD-OFM MS A13, provides one of her death dates: 525. The full Irish text and translation may be found online as part of the CELT project (celt.ucc.ie).

This will be met, yet again, with silence from our classical music industry

Enniscorthy ‘devastated’ by flooding

It’s so terrible for those affected directly and their families, and for the town.

Enniscorthy has flooded regularly since I was a child 50+ years ago and there are still no flood defences. It is such a judgement on the state of local government in Ireland. I saw photos of the flooding along the quays today. Businesses, homes, livelihoods, heartbreak, every time.

It’s an obscenity. And we have the gall to call ourselves civilised while we allow this to continue to happen.
"Up to 380 people may have drowned attempting to cross the Mediterranean last week". The West's normalisation of the mass death of black Africans (because that is predominantly who these people are) will never be less than devastating.

Imagine a paramilitary gang kills 2 observers over 2 weeks, then shows up at your home to say, "You, observer, we know where you live."

That's a death threat.

If it happened to me or a colleague when I was a human rights observer in N. Ireland, we would've lodged complaints with three govts.
One human rights observer in Maine said agents followed her home, blocked off her street, and came to her door to say they know where she lives. Her children are now staying elsewhere, to keep them safe.
Now in Maine: ICE watchers say federal agents are coming to their house to threaten and intimidate them.
