This I remember - dad often brought forbidden press in Polish & English, sometimes sewn inside his jacket, we all were reading forbidden books passionately. Yes - CIA helped then. Perhaps now it is a time to return the favour: www.theguardian.com/books/2025/f...

‘It allowed us to survive, to not go mad’: the CIA book smuggling operation that helped bring down communism
From George Orwell to Hannah Arendt and John le Carré, thousands of blacklisted books flooded into Poland during the cold war, as publishers and printers risked their lives for literature

I don’t normally post celebrity gossip, but check out this photo of the hottest star in the known universe: WR 102.

Its surface temperature is over 200,000 degrees Kelvin, versus the Sun’s surface at around 5,800K 🧪🔭🌟

Technology has made me exhausted - this is coming from someone working in tech for over 25 years. How one navigates environmental & ethical concerns of social or AI tech? How one stop getting sucked in into so much bullshit and repetitive reposting? Where is a space for quiet & inspiring dialogue?

🤦‍♀️ Labour had a chance here to distance themselves from the net zero blocking Conservatives.

In May I hosted in my studio few DEFRA scientists & civil servants, who enacted scenarios of UK coasts' floods, prompted by my query why oceans hardly feature in policy making. I asked them about their view of ocean - now & in 50 years. How to Navigate Unregulated Waters.

Aggressively framing climate solutions in way that appeases racists, nationalists and climate deniers results in two things:

- Those people continue hating the technologies as much as they ever did

- You now have a right-wing climate movement

I wish i could stay a little longer, my soul feeling similarly delicate & faint in a face of what awaits in global North with dark powers unleashed.

I am scared for all vulnerable earthlings, i wish i could protect them all.
