The democrats should pay people to stand in the toy and Christmas decor aisles and complain audibly about tariffs

Y’all, this CSWEP newsletter is a banger. Five women economists generously share their stories about navigating family and career. 🔥 @jialanw.bsky.social @kmpjones.bsky.social Sarah Hamersma, Kosali Simon, and Sarah Baird. It was an honor to "edit" (which mostly involved sitting back for good reads)

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

CSWEP strongly condemns Larry Summers’ behavior as revealed in the email correspondence with the late Jeffrey Epstein. While abuse of power in the economics profession is not new, rarely has the intent behind such abuse been so clearly stated.

Few things bug me more than higher ed leaders saying that we lost our mission and lost the trust of the public, when we have actually been the target of a decades-long smear campaign by the right wing that worked. The moment we’re losing our mission is right now, in capitulation.

RFK Jr says something stupid and now I have to spend part of my morning saying that no, girls aren’t hitting puberty six years earlier 🙄

(and anyway, wouldn’t that increase fertility rates?)

🎂🎉 Lucky 13 is William Cockriel's fascinating paper on the introduction of the McKay stitcher, which dramatically changed shoe production in the late 19th century. Using the Census Tree, he shows that the most exposed shoemakers and their children lost 2.2 and 1.9 years of wages, respectively.
