Reminder that it’s nearly 2025 and marriage equality still doesn’t exist for Disabled people
“I say this with full confidence and no hyperbole: I won’t survive without meaningful systemic and social change.”

Our petition is still going.

It’s been over a year since it was formally tabled with over 30,000 signatures.

The AB government has yet to taken action — but I’m not backing down.

Albertans who rely on our underfunded home care system aren't getting their care needs met.

For @karleia.bsky.social, this means a constant fight just to get the care hours necessary for basics—like showering, eating meals, or nose scratching.

An inaccessible “safe space” is actually just an unsafe space with performative advertising

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a Disabled person, it’s how to protect my peace.

I can’t escape persistent ableism, barriers, or inaccessibility, which means I’ve always reached my stress quota and I’m incapable of tolerating avoidable toxicity.

Autism isn’t a disease or an epidemic. It’s not something to fear or to prevent.

If “combating autism” seems like a worthy political goal to you, you’re either a eugenicist, or you’ve been deceived by eugenicists. #Autistic

A brief thread on alt-text.

Alt text is descriptive text that conveys the meaning of an image. It's designed to make visual content accessible to people with vision disabilities. When a person uses assistive technology such as a screen reader, the screen reader will read the onscreen text aloud 1/7

Trans rights & disability justice are linked, not only by disabling consequences of transphobia, but by the unthinkable cruelty of us being forced to advocate at, empathize with, and soothe the people gatekeeping resources for our survival--typically while we experience intense personal danger

We have the power to shape this platform into the refuge we want it to be—and it’s important to be cognizant of that moving forward.

Avoiding ableist language, using alt text, amplifying Disabled voices, and choosing GIFs mindfully are all small ways to make a big difference for Disabled users.

It's all well and good to not want to shop at or sell on the 'Zon, but remember that it is one of the most accessible services around and disabled folks often don't have the luxury to shop elsewhere.
