Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

A small moment of joy this weekend. My family and I rooted for Alex Honnold as he free solo’d Taipei 101. What an incredible feat!

It’s 2026 and I’m still catching up on my 2025 “comics to draw” backlog. Here’s a fond memory from last October! My niece was enraptured by the fire and devastation featured in Ultraman: Rising.

My December Timeline

Apologies (mostly to myself) for the minimal art output this month! I started the month battling one of the worst colds I’ve had in years. But I’m back now, and healthy just in time for winter break! Happy Holidays everyone, and take care!

To celebrate the upcoming release of the Steel Ball Run anime adaptation, I made a few acrylic standees featuring Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli, modeled after the CHIKARA studio figurine.

Aimless dating life autobio comic in the year 2025? We’re still doing those? Apparently!

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.
A post on Mastodon by small cypress (@small_cypress@indieweb.social): As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead." But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that" Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying
