In another life
I was another person.

In this life
I am this person.

I stand where I am
trying my best to be who I am meant to be.

English debates “they.” Japanese debates “I.” This week we look at how pronouns, names and suffixes encode gender — often in opposite ways.
Just between you and me: Gender and Japanese pronouns
Japanese pronouns reveal gender in unexpected ways, complicating how speakers express identity compared with current English.

Your annual reminder that if you get this cracker joke and are confused by it, it's apparently because "ffi" is a special character in some fonts and when the typeface is changed to one that doesn't have it, those letters disappear. It's supposed to be "coffin medicine".

If anyone heard a scream of joy in Morrisons today, it was me in the world veg section.

Karela.

They have fresh karela.

Fresh karela in a standard UK supermarket.

OMG

Go Morrisons.

Pedestrian crossings
Why they go from green to red so fast?
Do I need to sprint across the road?
What about elderly people?
How do they time these things?
Other countries have more time
UK expects you to cross the road in 3 seconds
Get distracted and you’ll be either killed or waiting for eternity

Hooks on public toilet doors.
Can we get some please?
Do you expect me to put my bag on the floor while I pee?
Other countries have them as standard.
U.K. is disgusting.
