Also like…as long as the audience is disproportionately gay men, the kind of drag performance that embodies exaggerations of powerful femininity and plays with female celebrity etc is just likely to connect more. Could change as the audience for drag events evolves of course. But that’s as it stands

Just feels like there’s more fun stuff you can do with femininity and androgyny and monster/inhuman characters.
There’s only so many performances of hypermasculinity exaggerated for comedic effect you can see before it gets dull and at least breast places bounce a bunch vs plastic abs/pecs.

I’ve enjoyed drag kings here or there but I ultimately just think playing with masculinity is less fun than playing with femininity and I think a lot of the potential audience for drag shows simply feels the same way and the explanation for “why are drag kings less in demand” is largely that simple.

I also didn’t expect Gaga and I also thought Cardi might get a verse in rather than being essentially a backup dancer (chances are she just didn’t have time to rehearse or joined short term) but I see his vision.
