Just saying right now that my federal tax information was clearly corrupted by DOGE, and that, per my records, I am due a $25Bn refund.

And prove that I am wrong, Elmo.

You don't have to look to hard to find the bawdy WWII lyrics to the Colonel Bogey march (what you probably most recognize as being the whistled song from Bridge Over the River Kwai). I'm working on a version that begins with:
Donald has only got one ball,
his mushroom is also small...

I want to be clear that I served under Caspar Weinberger, Frank Carlucci, and Dick Cheney and never felt as though leadership was completely inept so this isn't partisanship.

We now have a dumb, drunk, adulterer, sexual-predator, clown who couldn't run a pretzel cart for Secretary of Defense.

A somber Pearl Harbor Day to all.

Be well, my friends.

I'm thinking about starting a project and curious what y'all think. I want to build a "normal people" price tracker to show inflation in the coming year. I'm thinking a public website where normal people can put in prices for staples they buy. Could be broken down by product type / region.
Thoughts?

This is so stunningly beautiful and so true and so right. Thank you, Catherine. I lost my momma when I was 11, and everything you said just resonates. Sometimes the grief is nothing more than stepping over a curb. Sometimes it sneaks up on you and you spend hours with it.
Hi @darthbluesky.bsky.social ~ I was proud I gathered the strength to write about grief, and I am still working to write more. It was hard, but I’m proud, and I think I contributed something positive.
Sending love to anyone going through it.

Many years ago a friend of mine from college was deported because of an issue with her student visa. She was a great student. She is a wonderful person. She lives in the UK now (Hey, Ghizlane!!) and left a hole in the hearts of her friends.
Read this closely. Matt knows of what he speaks.
1/ HOW TO TRIAGE AN IMMIGRATION EMERGENCY
As someone who has been defending non-citizens in deportation proceedings since 2006, I am here to tell you that we know exactly who Trump's top targets will be, & how we can try to protect them NOW.

NOT LEGAL ADVICE but here's what we know about priorities

Follow the thread, but @joycewhitevance.bsky.social I think you mean the bakeriarchy.
I really wanted dessert tonight but my husband claims he was working and could not bake.

This is so incredibly disturbing... and so incredibly believable...
Previous data on military sexual assaults was wrong.

📌 Assaults are 2-4x higher than estimated.
📌 24% of active-duty women have been assaulted.

Remember this as abortion bans are debated in states, and Pete Hegseth—accused of sexual assault—is nominated for Defense Secretary.

Anyone here remember the early days of the dumpster fire? The #FailWhale and such?

This place is growing really fast and things aren't always going to be smooth. But it's okay. We'll all learn and grow together. Personally, I trust @jay.bsky.team to keep it all moving.

Just be patient, okay?

The way we get through this together. The ONLY way we get through this is together. We have to talk to each other, help each other, love each other, hold each other close, bind up each other's wounds, lift each other up, and carry each other forward.
It is the way. It is the only way.
The most common question I get these days is "What can I do now?" There are thousands of answers. The most important are:
1.) Do something.
2.) Do something where you feel you can make a difference.
3.) Help someone. Help as many people as you can.

The next time someone tells you undocumented immigrants are a drain on the country show them this:
November 17, 2024 at 3:23 PM
I have been telling people the essence of this for years. So glad to have the actual numbers to include in my little speech. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but wondering if that number includes property and sales taxes.
“In total, undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion, or roughly $9,000 per person, in taxes in 2022, the report shows. While their incomes are usually lower, they’re less likely to claim refunds or earn tax-preferred income”
Undocumented Immigrants in US Pay Nearly $100 Billion in Taxes
Undocumented immigrants paid almost $100 billion of taxes, underscoring the importance of border policies on the country’s tax collections, according to a new report.

fascism is stopped when enough people say one of two things:
1) "nah, I'm not doing that"
2) "nah, you're not doing that"

a lot of people want to imagine how they'll say the second thing, but you should *really* start practicing the first one

Also, be careful to vet all recommendations as MAGA is trying hard to gain a foothold here.
