Just overheard a young beatnik of sorts at Ypsi's Cafe Liv describe Don Quijote to his friends as "basically the 17th-century version of a guy who watches so many reels on van life that he goes crazy."

"It's a fun read," he added.

"Let's try trading the term 'climate protection' for what it actually means: 'Saving the livability of the planet.'

Then many statements by politicians sound as insane as the actually are.

'The livability of the planet cannot come at the expense of economic growth.'"

See also: how little research (and what a small % of grants) is specific to bisexual+, asexual, or non-binary people or issues (as opposed to either LGBTQ+ at large or monosexual people or issues)
It’s not enough to ‘support the community’ if your version of support never includes us. Donate directly to bisexual orgs. Fund non binary initiatives. Back pansexual and asexual spaces. Because if your money only ever goes to the same mainstream nonprofits the ones that erase us

Something to regularly ask about language classes you teach or take:

How much are they about PEOPLE?

· the people in the class
· the people in other communities that use the language

Language comes from people and exists for the sake of people. #LangChat #WorldLanguages

The framing of Mamdani as some far-left radical is obscene. So is the fact that some Democrats are running scared of a talented, young politician who won without big money support based on his clearly common sense ideas.

Just shows how captured our politics are by corporate interests.

"The moral crisis of our age has nothing to do with gay marriage or abortion; it’s insider trading, obscene CEO pay, wage theft from ordinary workers, Wall Street’s continued gambling addiction, corporate payoffs to friendly politicians, and the billionaire takeover of our democracy."

Been rereading some of these and getting my hands on others to read for the first time. Solid list, and nice to learn about bisexualbookshelf on IG

compassionate societies define success by the paucity of poor people;
cruel societies define success by the grotesque wealth of the few, pretending the burgeoning poverty is the fault of poor people and not policies;

A focus on stories and other meaning-rich content rather than language as object not only is interesting but also leads efficiently to acquisition of words, constructions, etc. Short piece based on observation of @veganadri.bsky.social & @liamprinter.bsky.social

"Rather than focusing primarily on the system of the language itself, we should prioritise engaging, meaningful content through which learners can progressively build their linguistic repertoire." (This need not necessarily be focused on stories, I would add.) www.lspjournal.com/post/the-pow...

Humble thanks and a solemn salute to the Black trans women who since before Stonewall have grittily fought—at great personal cost and often unto death—to tilt the world toward acceptance of us queers #TransDayOfVisibility

I didn't purposely time it to join bluesky on #TransDayOfVisibility, but I'm more than happy it worked out that way and to make my first post one of unconditional solidarity with and support for trans persons everywhere. You make the world better and more beautiful 🏳️‍⚧️
