These British classics are fine ales. I just wish I could find them in the U. S.—especially on cask. I see Old Speckled Hen and Old Bombardier now and then.

There’s nothing wrong with a good, hoppy IPA, but perhaps it’s time to reappraise classic styles of beer again

Bannon wants to surround polling places with ICE. That’s a neo-Nazi fever dream. Sure Trump has a lot of goons—but not that many goons. Time to sit in a comfy chair and think of the color green.

This campaign is built by people, not the ultra rich or special interests like AIPAC.

This is something I hope we can all agree on. This technology scares me a lot more than nuclear war.
US lawmakers introduce bill to screen sales of potentially dangerous synthetic DNA
Two U.S. senators this week introduced a bill that would create new rules around the sale of synthetic gene sequences that could be used to create bioweapons.

Count on it. If the Democrats win, some of Trump’s favorite sycophants are looking at the real possibility of prison time, so they have about 9 months to pull up democracy by its roots.

Therein lies the problem. ICE is terrorizing Los Angeles, and local police are choosing not to enforce the law banning masked federal agents.

This is how trust collapses.

Every other industrialized nation has pensions, free health care, free education, extensive social services … all without having militarized police pointing guns in your faces and daring you to make their day. The U.S. is the wet dream of the super-rich and the nightmare of anyone who has to work.
Far-right Americans want you to believe that having nice things is impossible, and that serving billionaires is the only thing you can do.

This is a lie. The rest of the world has solved many problems Republicans pretend are impossible.
Motherhood costs Danish women an average of $120,000 in earnings over two decades, according to a sociologist who researches family and economics. Generous government benefits like paid leave, childcare and child allowances recovered about $100,000 of that loss. buff.ly/pAtuCS0

If Donald Trump intended to make an example out of Minnesota, then I am damn proud of that example.

Trump is the kind of guy who tries to steal elections. He’s now presiding over a Justice Department that seems primed to help him try. We cannot permit any scandal of the moment to drive this fundamental reality from our minds.

We are at the very edge of peak oil. Trump and his cronies are trying to squeeze out every last dime with no transition plan. They think they’ll be fine in their armed networked states as the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves. The time to wake up is now.
I've written a lot about oilfield liabilities and how we need to plan for the oil industry to walk away from those and also realize that the industry has no plan for managed decline. Once the profits are gone, they will just abandon everything...including society.

I make those points in this:
Learning from California As It Becomes An Orphan Petrostate
By 1910, California was producing roughly a fifth of the world’s crude oil. Today it is producing roughly a fifth of the oil consumed by the state.  Source In addition to experiencing serious oil pr...
