JT Brubaker and Joey Lucchesi were similar-ish archetypes in that they were former starters turned multi-inning relievers.

I suspect one of the reasons the Giants went with Brubaker is because he's had higher K%. Which the Giants' bullpen needs after finishing 27th in K/9.

The Giants announce that they've tendered a one-year contract to right-hander JT Brubaker.

Brubaker is the only one of their arbitration-eligible players who was tendered a contract. Andrew Knizner was DFA'd and Joey Lucchesi was non-tendered.

The Giants have non-tendered LHP Joey Lucchesi, per source.

Encarnacion, without question, has the most pop of all their outfielders. His season got derailed by numerous injuries, and I feel like he’ll have a real shot to win a job in camp. It’s hard to find players who can routinely generate his exit velocities.
I think they basically swapped Jerar and matos for Wiemer and Dean.
November 21, 2025 at 8:41 PM
One final note on Wiemer:

vs. RHP: .178/.270/.289 (.559 OPS)
vs. LHP: .255/.295/.484 (.779 OPS)

Luis Matos often started against lefties, but he had a .636 OPS vs. LHP in 2025.

If Wiemer can hit LHP along with plus defense, he might be ahead of Matos for backup OF.

Last year, San Francisco's outfielders ranked last in the majors in outs above average (-18).

Over his three-year MLB career, Joey Wiemer has been worth +11 defensive runs saved and +7 outs above average.

Alex Burg will be returning to next year’s coaching staff as catching coach and MLB field coordinator, per source.

This was my first time voting for NL MVP. I voted for Shohei Ohtani, as did everyone else who had a vote.

Picking Ohtani was pretty straightforward. Spots 2-10? Not so much.

It was a fun process, and I wanted to outline my thinking on every spot.

The Giants have acquired RHP Logan Martin from the Kansas City Royals for Mason Black.

Black was DFA’d last week.

Martin, 24, posted a 3.45 ERA and 3.79 FIP over 22 starts last year for the Royals’ High-A affiliate.

Between Bochy, Dusty Baker and Ron Wotus — among others — Tony Vitello won't have a shortage of experienced voices he can consult as he makes the leap from collegiate head coach to major-league manager.

The NL Platinum Glove goes to Fernando Tatis Jr., who was worth +9 FRV.

Patrick Bailey entered ‘25 as the game’s best defensive catcher. Still, he had a glaring weakness — a transformed weakness into a strength.

“… the amount of changes he can make so quickly is incredible to work with.”

Patrick Bailey wants a monopoly on the Gold Glove Award.

After one of the best defensive seasons ever, his ambition isn’t outlandish.

On Bailey, who got even better in ‘25.

“The conversion was, ‘This isn’t about winning one, it’s about winning 10.’”

One of Tony Vitello’s first big tasks as manager will be assembling his coaching staff.

There will be several holdovers, but the Giants won’t just run it back.

And there’s a certain first-base coach who could make a lot of sense to add.

It wasn't easy for Tony Vitello to leave Knoxville. He said it would've have to be "a certain set of circumstances" for him to leave.

So, how'd Buster Posey and the Giants lure Vitello away from Tennessee?

“They took their time, they gave me space."
