Remember that Monty Python sketch about Scottish kamikaze highlanders who feel an irresistible compulsion to throw themselves off the highest building, even when there’s no enemy around?

That is the best analogy to describe the Democratic Party establishment. Self-sabotage for no goddamn reason.

Sometimes you know which Senators will be remembered by history. Moynihan, Kennedy, Dole, Thurmond, Inouye, Sanders, Warren. For one reason or another, they matter.

I look at this list and think, "I will never remember any of these people. Except one wore a hoodie. They had power and did nothing."

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The SNAP situation has me gaming out two scenarios as to why Trump is fighting so hard to stop payments.

The first, and most likely, is political. He views poor people who need SNAP as leverage against Democrats.

The second, and more scandalous, is that the money isn’t there anymore.

The most basic argument I can give you for ditching Spotify for *anything* is Spotify, uniquely, pays *nothing* for much of the music on the platform. Is there *any* improvement in paying for Spotify over pirating? You're a paper-thin moral slice away from buying music from a bootlegger. Why do it?
Confirmed: From 2024, tracks on Spotify will have to be played 1,000 times before they start earning money
Spotify has told industry players that it expects the new 1,000-play minimum annual threshold will reallocate tens of millions of dollars per year from 0.5% of its current royalty pool to the other 99...

Something worth noting: Rockstar is leaning HEAVILY on the excuse that the unionising employees were "leaking private company information"

They want people to assume this means game info or assets.

But I will bet you CASH MONEY this translates to:

'they were comparing salaries and work contracts"

The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.

So they're going to do this for one, maybe two games. It'll be full speed ahead until it's 6 months from release and the game is falling apart, at which point they'll pay an insane overtime rate for a QA studio to do it last minute which won't be enough.

Yesterday was a great result, the emotional antidote from the nightmare that was 2024. Enjoy it. Enjoy it all day today if you wish.

But tomorrow, the work begins. Republicans are going to lean HARD into anti-democracy — they aren’t viable otherwise — and it is up to all of us to stop them.

Today is the day. If there are elections in your area, and you haven’t voted yet, please make time to do so.
