6. His wings give a lot of benefits for desert dwelling. The color protects against the harsh sun, they can be used as a shade, and he curls up in them during the night cold often preferring them over blankets. Likewise his back is covered in feathers to both protect and keep it warm.
Ashen curled up in his wings for sleep, using his tail to warm up his legs which would otherwise not be covered as reliably.
