What a week that was! No hot water or heating on one of our sites on Monday, THE CALL just after the plumber said he didn’t think he could fix the boiler😱( but did!), driving from site to site with the inspector following me😱 and missing taking my daughter to the airport because I’m the acting head!

Post swim treat! I’ve heard a bit more birdsong this last week so hoping that longer days ahead will mean more opportunities to swim each week rather than just at the weekend. Now heading home to prep for the week ahead!

35 EHCP consultations to read for places at my school…. Definitely can’t take them all and need to send all responses in within 15 days! I really don’t like playing judge and jury. Mind you those that don’t get places might go to tribunal and then I’ll end up being directed to take them!

Whoops! Went for a swim and came home with good intentions of doing some work before term starts! Instead went shopping; washed car; made 2 kinds of soup; some chicken curry; a sausage casserole and some knäckebröd and also have a sourdough proving!!

It’s been a XXL hectic term and as acting head I’ve been on a very steep learning curve! Have to confess that I’m struggling to get my brain out of school stress and into Christmas mode instead! Any advice from all the experienced heads out there?

Well that was a pretty challenging week but a visit to the lake for a swim this morning and the 9.3’ water seems to have done a positive reset to my brain. #wildswimming

Seen lots of chat/posts around INSET/Training Days/CPD. Feel like we are a bit behind the times-our school has grown over the last 9 years from a single site to 5 sites next month! We’ve grown from 56 pupils to 300, all with SEND, and a staff team that is now probably close to 250!

Seen lots of chat/posts around INSET/Training Days/CPD. Feel like we are a bit behind the times-our school has grown over the last 9 years from a single site to 5 sites next month! We’ve grown from 56 pupils to 300, all with SEND, and a staff team that is now probably close to 250!

In our school… we have well-being ambassadors who look after ‘thought boxes’ in each class where pupils can put worries/thoughts anonymously.
We’re looking at how to make this more accessible for our #SEND chn.

In my school, each class has a selection of books to do with mental health, wellbeing, managing emotions etc in a little basket, next to their worry monster. Means that when children move to a new classroom each year, with a new teacher, they know where to seek out that support.
