Went for my mammogram this morning and was encouraged to take a bouquet of flowers from the basket on the way out. 💗 Such a kind, thoughtful, and much appreciated gesture.

While on our afternoon walk today along the canal at Washington’s Crossing, caught sight of this lovely heron watching and waiting. Always awed by their beauty. #heron #birds #december #natureislit

Am having a fine time with Scrivener today. Reorganized a project (took a few days) and now I believe I am well on my way. The goal is to get through the muck and then wrap this baby up. #letswrite #writingcommunity #write #poetry #memoir #novel #hybrid

Saw #WICKED last night. Loved every minute & everything about it. Lady sitting next to me sang along softly to most songs, except DF. Round of applause from a packed house when the movie ended. 💚 Video clips are great, but seeing it on the big screen is the way to go. 👏🏼🎬🎥

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thanksgiving day whether you are celebrating with loved ones or in a solitary way. 🍂 In our family, this platter comes out only on Thanksgiving & Christmas. It has been part of our holiday traditions for well over forty years & brings with it a tinge of joy.

A committee of turkey vultures across the way. Moments ago, they all (well, most of them, save four) lifted off and took flight. Such a cool moment! Taking this as a good omen for the morning. Of course there is a poem in this somewhere. Of course there is. #birdwatching #writing

Jane Hirshfield’s poem “LET THEM NOT SAY” from LEDGER (Knopf, 2021) hits hard. Notes are mine from the night I first heard her read at the Wordsmiths Reading series in Bucks County a few years ago. The timeliness and power of this poem remain. #poetry #janehirshfield #poetrycommunity

Happy to learn that Samantha Harvey's ORBITAL won this year's Booker Prize. Now if Percival Everett wins the National Book Prize for JAMES, I will be entirely over the moon for some time.
