Germany gave people €1,200/month no strings attached.

They kept working, slept better, switched to better jobs, and even gave more to others.

Turns out, when people aren’t drowning, they swim further.

#UBI doesn’t kill ambition, it frees it.

I just watched this incredible documentary on PBS “Hannah Arendt: Facing Tyranny” and it sent chills down my spine. It’s frightening how much “the banality of evil” is embedded in what we’re living through today. Every chapter of her life speaks to us now. You can watch it here free until July 26:
Hannah Arendt: Facing Tyranny - About the documentary | American Masters | PBS
Discover Hannah Arendt, who transformed her time as a political prisoner during World War II into daring insights about totalitarianism.

we get 60m dollars worth of tea from China every year. baby, they are literally doing a 104% tax on tea in the United States
sure this sounds bad but remember this nation was founded on the principle of cheerfully tolerating large surtaxes on imported goods

CBC/Radio-Canada is a pillar of our Canadian identity.

We’re going to strengthen our public broadcaster with more long-term funding, and a modernized mandate — to deliver more local news and keep Canadians better informed during emergencies.

It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

They are not retaliatory tariffs, @nytimes.com. They are unilateral tariffs that will tank the US & global economy. Stop legitimizing this madness.

All the firings, cancelling of grants and contracts with companies , the closing of offices, disproportionately impact small towns, cities and states.

Their finances will be turned upside

DOGE isn't just cutting vital government services.

Each federal job loss could also result in the loss of at least one additional worker in the private sector.

Working people having less money in their pockets to spend stifles local economies.

What’s “efficient” about that?
