Continuing from my last post, the hospital’s proud claim of being “the most wired healthcare provider” is a confusing claim that sucks up lots of dollars.

I’ve just been “cured” of esophageal cancer, to be quick it is classified as a disease that kills 80-50% of afflicted patients.
The skill of the doctors and nurses was clearly amazing.
As I’m getting ready to go home tomorrow I’m filled with gratitude, as a technologist I’m baffled.

The CBO report included 491 such programs totaling about $516 billion. Most of that money goes to two dozen big-ticket items, including medical care for veterans, housing vouchers for low-income renters, Pell Grants, the National Institutes of Health, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and NASA.
