I study late ancient theology and liturgical poetry, and I teach Christian history at Campbell University Divinity School. My posts are from my own perspective, often about things unrelated to my work.
this morning’s task: liking every photo of the northern lights taken in NC overnight—would have been a dream to witness but also I was dreaming so no regrets.

I don’t know if I feel older cause tonight was the first concert that I actually think I should have worn earplugs to or cause I’m willing to accept and admit that.

being in my hometown tonight meant being in a new store I have never been inside and having a woman that I haven’t seen in 5+ years come over to say hi cause she recognized my voice

I’m not saying that there’s a series of emails with Bible-related puns between the faculty and staff of my institution, but I’m not not saying that.

The world (academic and otherwise) is burning, but two of my favorite colleagues/friends defended their dissertations yesterday! Both are brilliant Hebrew Bible/Old Testament scholars. The world is better because Mary Dance Berry and Allison Wattenbarger are in it.

Life update: in August, I will be the Assistant Professor of Christian History at Campbell University Divinity School (about an hour and change south of Durham, NC). I'm excited to join the wonderful faculty, staff, and student body and to share the history of the church across time and space.

This is Durham news — many friends and neighbors in this crew, including those arrested. Sloan and Suvya (among others) are beloved members of the Durham community.
There’s another faith-led Moral Mondays protest in front of SCOTUS right now — this one noticeably larger than in weeks past.

The march from a church to SCOTUS, where people will decry cuts to healthcare programs in the GOP budget, is led by pastors and wheelchair users (and some who are both).
