Sandy Beach hill looks to be open. I only noticed after I rode up the road but it was cleared and there were pedestrians on it. #yycbike

Unusually, we did Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve this year. So it is all downhill from here - dishes are done and feet are up. I even made tomorrow's breakfast ahead.

Ok from the hospital to the Glenmore Tr overpass. Then sheer ice everywhere.
Bailed off the paths at River Park. 14A Street, terrible. Crestview Rd, walked/slid down most of it (reminder, this is the official detour around Sandy Beach hill).

#yycbike update - Sandy Beach hill pathway now not opening until the 11th. Crews actively working on the finishing touches when I went by. 50th down the hill was bare enough to ride down without drama.

Random confession - I've had my ebike for almost 2 years now. And for the whole time I have popped the battery off to charge it. Then I noticed a pic that @seumasb.bsky.social posted of his bike with the charging cord running to the bike.

#yycbike update - not a thing cleared on Elbow river pathway from Stanley Park through to Rockyview hospital. Well trampled by walkers so pretty slow going. One melted and refrozen spot on the dam that is a bit spicy.

I just checked the status of a 311 ticket I put in a bit over a week ago. A car top carrier had come off and was lying on the 42 Ave bikeway.
The ticket was closed with the comment that a crew was dispatched to pick it up.
Or just kick it off to the side it turns out.

Highlight of this morning's ride was a broken down sweeping machine on the pedestrian overpass by Rockyview hospital. Was a tight squeeze getting the bike past it.
Road down to Sandy Beach was a bit sketchy, and there were tracks indicating a rider went down in the park. #yycbike

Pathway construction update - paving was underway on the reconstructed Sandy Beach hill pathway on Saturday. Looked like they were close to finishing. Current re-opening date is Nov 25 and that looks likely. #yycbike
