Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief at WAMC News: Northeast Public Radio. Can be found on Twitter at @WAMC_J_Paleo. Massachusetts is the best state in the union and I'll fight you over it.
If I were to profile a former city councilor in a nationally-read newspaper and air their grievances, I would probably include the fact that said former councilor is in the process of suing the city, rather than emphasize what her tea mug says.

For @wamc.org: In a section of Springfield with a number of empty storefronts, a new restaurant has opened its doors. It’s the product of an owner and staff with a passion for cooking, and also part of a special effort by one organization to serve “micro businesses.”

John Lurie's memoir, "The History of Bones," is really, really good. I, too, do not fondly remember my time living in Worcester. Also, Lurie writes the way he paints and performs - in a way that makes me realize I'm never going to be able to articulate anything as special as this

Was out with pneumonia in late-December so now I'm late to the Holyoke OUI story. The Springfield Republican's Aprell Munford & The Reminder have been doing a great job covering it. One thing that concerns me though: my record request for the bodycam footage was shot down due to it being evidence

I wrote book reviews for a while for the WSJ well over a decade ago, and Bari Weis was my editor. One of her special tricks was to try to insert a sharp rightward slant into my essays *after* it had been copy edited, as a way of slipping her viewpoint in at the last minute.

Sidenote, I'm not going to lie, sometimes, working for an Albany station means not going extremely hyper local, like reporting on the husband of the Mayor of Northampton freaking out on somebody at Stop & Shop. But then the Boston Globe writes it up and I don't know what I am at this point.

the administration wants to frame this (bizarrely) as law enforcement. but if law enforcement conducted a raid for a suspect and killed 40 people, including an unknown number of unarmed civilians, it would be treated as a clear disaster like Waco.
NYT:

At least 40 people were killed in the US attack on Venezuela, including military personnel and civilians.
