There goes another guard option I was hopeful for the Sixers to go after.
Free agent guard Cam Thomas has agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, his agent Tony Ronzone of Wasserman tells ESPN. Thomas, 24, averaged 21.4 points per game over the last three seasons with the Nets.

I also wrote earlier today on where the Sixers stand financially after signing Dominick Barlow to a standard contract + how that affects their outlook in the buyout market.

Spoiler: It's not great! (But it does explain why they did what they did at the trade deadline.)

Sixers Facing Tight Financial Squeeze in NBA's Buyout Market
The Sixers still have a portion of their mid-level exception available to offer buyout targets, but they might not be willing to offer all of it.

Did I look up every participant's pull-up three-point volume + efficiency when writing about Tyrese Maxey being named to the 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend?

No, of course not, that would be completely craz... oh.

I like the idea of Trendon Watford playing that point forward role, giving the Sixers another ball handler.

That said, it’d be nice if they could add a guard to the roster sometime after the All-Star break.

Looks like the Jazz are back at it again with unethical tanking.
Jaren Jackson Jr. in Jazz debut:

22 PTS
9-17 FG
5 REB
3 AST
2 STL

Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, Jusuf Nurkic all did not play in 4Q; Magic take final quarter 33-23 to win game by 3.

On a related note, I wrote about why the Thunder were the under-the-radar winners of the trade deadline this week. And it wasn't just because of Jared McCain!

Between trading for Jared McCain and getting some positive news about a pair of upcoming draft picks, the Thunder had a quietly excellent trade deadline.

Several of the Sixers’ young players go to pregame chapel. Whenever Adem Bona lost track of time, Jared McCain would remind him it’s time to go.

"Tonight I looked up," Bona said after Thursday’s game in LA, "and I'm like, 'Ah, Jared would have called me right now.' But he wasn't here to call me."

Daryl Morey says the opportunities that were out there on the trade market wouldn't have moved the needle for the Sixers, which is why they didn't do them.

As a reminder, Jock Landale—who just had 26-11-5 last night—got traded for cash considerations.

Morey just blamed the first apron for why the Sixers needed to dump Jared McCain to make enough space for Barlow.

As a reminder, that is a total lie. They signed him to a two-year deal, which very well could have come out of their taxpayer MLE.

🤦🏾‍♂️ so let me get this straight, Morey made the trade hoping that they could add to the team.

That’s just being a bad GM.
Daryl Morey says the Sixers tried to use the picks they acquired for Jared McCain to add to the team for this year, but nothing materialized.

Seeing that Dickerson report immediately reminded me of when Ali Marpet suddenly retired at 28 years old.

Football is a brutal and violent sport that takes it toll on these players’ bodies. And I think we all knew that Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were both banged up.
February 6, 2026 at 5:42 AM
This is not good.
Landon Dickerson’s future is uncertain and his return is to be determined, according to @jeff-mclane.bsky.social.

The great left guard is just 27-years-old and only five years into his career but his body has been through a lot.

If only the Sixers had a young guard off the bench who might have been able to help with this problem... oh well
The Lakers are outscoring the Sixers 57-14 on bench points, by the way.

Even if you take away all 33 of Austin Reaves' points, the Lakers bench is still outscoring the Sixers bench 24-14.
