Dad. Developer.
In this age of AI coding I’ve seen other developers talk about never writing another line of code. It makes me wonder when (if?) we’ll get to the point where devs actually write code again to “do it the old fashioned way” like we see with other hobbies.

Doctors tell you to eat healthy, but I’m convinced they’ve never had an afternoon with family and friends watching football with a slow cooker filled with sausage pinwheels.

Nothing says “middle-aged” quite like the bathroom cabinet filled with an ever increasing number of industrial sized containers of multivitamins, probiotics, and pain killers

Sometimes I’ll overhear conversations while at work wherein non-technical are talking about technical topics with the utmost confidence in everything that they’re describing going exactly to plan. Kind of exhilarating and terrifying to know that they’re dependent on the things you built!

As if a car accident and having to work with insurance isn’t headache enough, I now feel compelled to answer every phone call because I’m not sure if it is important or not now.

Buying groceries while trying to balance price, availability, and all at a single store is more of less impossible at this point.

Something that sticks out to me from #Laracon has been the AI discussion. So many talks about AI, but they’ve seemed very measured and pragmatic. Feels fresh amongst the AI hype.

The days leading up to, during, and immediately after #Laracon are, to me, some of the most exciting of the year. Can’t wait to get to Denver!

I have both Hunter Greene and Paul Skenes on my fantasy baseball team. While I am no fan of Pittsburgh sports, I desperately want to see these two young guns battle it out in a tight, heated playoff race or series (Reds coming out on top, of course). It feels like we’re building towards that.

Nothing hits quite like coming from the summer heat and sun into an air conditioned house.

In the course of building an app you run into a situation where you have to deal with roles and permissions. I’m there now and just like the last time, it is an obnoxious pain.

I’ve been in my role as a manager for a few years now. Even if my role may fall in the “lower to middle” range, I feel like I’ve learned a few things. I think one of the most important things that I’ve learned is that the most important trait for a leader is humility.

In a #Laravel app with multiple database connections and using Pest. How is everyone defining the connections they want to transact?

One thing physical therapy has taught me is that there are all kinds of wild, specialized pieces of gym equipment.

Added a new tag for tracking issues. I call it “Surprise & Delight.” They’re not exactly features that will change the world. They’re there to be fun. Software is a creative endeavor. Why not include some fun?

I’ve spent the past few weeks recovering from surgery while working from home. For one reason or another, it haven’t opened Spotify on my work device during that time. It seems that the Spotify algorithm completely forgets who you are and your taste in music that quickly.

I’ve been attempting to use the default apps in iOS more this year. So far I’ve been pleased with the change to Reminders and Notes. Mail on the other hand… I just can’t quite love you…
