That is…not great
There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

That’s pretty explicitly not what Casey is saying. But to take the comment in good faith…there is a difference between access journalism biases and being well sourced. I don’t think Casey is particularly credulous, at least in the published interviews he does
I’m sorry, but “you need to interview and believe what the tech CEOs tell us” is not an argument anybody who’s serious about journalism should make and anybody who says this kind of thing should be ignored
Found out that Casey Newton talked about me on a podcast and I cannot stop laughing. Bro is mad :(

“Reflexive AI” manifesto from Shopify CEO. Honestly, I think his general premise that everyone has to learn and use gen AI is correct. It’s just a reality. But this graf is…not a fun read

I’m usually pretty cynical about political theater like filibusters…but Cory Booker seems to have really broken through with his 25 hour floor speech. Someone’s gotta be calculating this, but I’m curious what the total views/impressions generated has been

As @afarles.bsky.social tells us, we didn’t build this years MIC list in response to the election, but this years selections ended up containing quite a few Elon Musk foils. Bluesky being among them! Check out the full list on @fastcompany.com

My favorite genre of business podcast is Wharton grad hosts talking to Stanford grad guests about their secrets to success. Both grew up rich and got super connected in school, but their success is all about time boxing and getting up early.

The four humors aren’t the most advanced understanding of the human body? Sounds like someone’s got an excess of yellow bile
Is there anyone your read or listen to and it gives you the feeling that our most advanced understanding of something is going to look like the four humors in a couple centuries?

The backend of BlueSky is really impressive. I’m naturally skeptical about the premise of a Twitter alternative, but the UI is only a small part of the company. The decentralized infrastructure and algo tools are wild
