Shirley Povich writing in 1962, with the most immaculate burn conceivable of the Redskins awful, vile owner George Preston Marshall, the last NFL owner to insist on an all white roster: "Jim Brown, born ineligible to play for the Redskins, integrated their end zone three times yesterday." RIP WaPo.

Aussie Open men’s final:

This has absolutely felt like the tournament of destiny for Novak. He gets the free pass in R16, dodges a massive bullet vs. Musetti, takes down Sinner because he’s not worn down by the tournament grind and is able to actually play his game, and faces likely a <100% Carlos.

That was a heck of a tiebreak. Not a single point went against the server till the very last one, and that razor thin margin means a two sets to love lead for Alcaraz.

The removal of Bovino doesn't mean anything has necessarily changed (yet) in the Twin Cities. I confirmed yesterday that lawfully present refugees are still getting arrested, some sent to Texas.

Wish I could stay up for the late match but alas. This one’s the real barometer for where Shelton’s game is at. Last year his only losses in Slams (not counting the injury in NY) were to Sinner and Alcaraz. Here’s his chance to find out if he’s any closer to closing that gap or not.

Ooh Novak may be getting the same injury bailout that Jannik got when he was on the ropes against Dimitrov at Wimbledon last year
January 28, 2026 at 6:38 AM
Musetti taking it to Djokovic is a legit surprise to me. Now I figured Novak would get blitzed by Jannik in the next round, but I thought he’d at least get to that round.

so you should just know, if Indiana can win a national title, there's no reason for you to not have hope about...well, everything and anything

Now we know: the only way to make Curt Cignetti smile is to literally win a national championship! 🤣

Calling my shot: Miami is winning this game now.
January 20, 2026 at 4:08 AM
There’s no scenario now where Indiana should try a field goal on this drive. Stay up by 3 and Miami might settle for a FG and overtime if they get in range. Go up 6 and they’ll know they need a TD and will play accordingly.
January 20, 2026 at 4:02 AM
And that is why IU went for it on all those fourth downs. Their defense is cooked.
January 20, 2026 at 3:50 AM
I thought Cignetti was nuts to go for it on both fourth downs. I thought Mendoza had no chance of getting the first down on that play, much less the touchdown. I was loud wrong.
January 20, 2026 at 3:39 AM
Feels to me like Indiana’s defense is starting to get a little weary. If their offense can’t sustain a drive here, I think Miami finally finds a way to pull ahead.
January 20, 2026 at 3:24 AM
Look at Cignetti and tell me whether his team just blocked a punt or gave up a blocked punt. I’d never play poker with that man.

Bieniemy is to KC as Josh McDaniels is to NE.
The Chiefs are expected to hire Bears running backs coach Eric Bieniemy to be their next offensive coordinator, per source.

Bieniemy would return to the post he previously occupied from 2018-2022 in Kansas City.
The Kansas City Chiefs are requesting permission to interview Eric Bieniemy, and the expectation is that he will be returning as the OC for the Chiefs.

I’m not surprised at all that Chicago scored late. I am surprised by the way they did it, though. That was wild!
