I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox!
I made it for a game, but it's free to use.

I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble.

If you find it useful consider supporting me on itch :)

People often complain abt tiered Fire Fira Firaga magic in games like Final Fantasy, but sometimes it makes a lot of sense.
The spells may feel redundant but in a system like FF8's, where you equip spells to unique slots, suddenly having a few semi-redundant choices is tactical again.

synapses are synapsing you know
and NONE OF THOSE MATTER IN THIS FIGHT. the sexiest Poison ailment ever cares not about Poisonfucking or sandworm hp after 12 identical applications in 25 minutes. it gets old and my crops are dying. the crops in this metaphor are my "cool" skills mentioned above.

i think the biggest fundamental Thing turn-based rpg devs can do to improve their combat is to consider turn economy. there's a lot deeper nuance you could take into this, but on the surface level, everyone who's played an older game has felt this:

why use poison when the battle is over next turn?
