📍 This year we launched a new digital archive putting collections from our archive at the hands of researchers worldwide
For the past 8 months we have continued to add new collections to the site, now totalling 215,000 pages of crucial evidence from the Holocaust and the Nazi era... buff.ly/TVeLPnv

Former Stasi foreign intelligence chief Markus Wolf took to the stage and admitted the East German state was guilty of much, and that reform was needed.
The crowd weren’t exactly thrilled to hear from an establishment figure at this juncture. He was met with boos.

The Nazis extended Germany’s national bank and used it to store gold stolen from holocaust victims - including wedding rings and fillings - formed into gold bars.
The gold was then moved to a mine in Thuringia as the Soviets approached the capital in 1945. It was discovered by US forces.

This one features angry Honecker, Mexican Honecker, and, no joke, hot & young Honecker 👇

Latest YouTube is out and importantly features Ulbricht and Honecker in their sombreros.
More importantly, I take a walk through 1989 East Berlin (as it were) and tap away about a few buildings on a walk you can just as easily take yourself on - there’s a map in the video description.

Okay now I need to go back to Berlin. I've been to the Bundestag twice but have never noticed this piece of the wall!
A little bit of bonus Cold War history behind the Reichstag. Part of the Gdansk Lenin Shipyard wall where the Solidarność movement started to gain traction in 1980. August protests that year were the beginning of the end for Poland‘s communist regime.

Further evidence that Germans should be banned from making sandwiches. I’m not even talking about mixing breads, I’d give that a go, but they each look drier than the Sahara.
The filling on the left looks like it can only be described as “meat product”.

Es gibt halt ernsthaft Leute, die Brötchen mit Schwarzbrot nicht kennen und ich frage mich bei solchen Sachen immer: Sind wir wirklich ein Volk? Teilen wir wirklich die gleichen Werte?
