🦎Argentine black and white tegu (Salvator merianae).

Max size for males 150 cm (4'11"), for females 91 cm (3').

Omnivorous.

Found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Used for bushmeat and in the leather trade.

Considered Least Concern by the IUCN.

A black and white lizard is walking in fallen leaves among a few green plants. It has a high number of white scales. This gives them a spotted appearance. On the throat, belly and on the underside of the tail, these white scales are so numerous and so close together that they form white bands. The lizard is looking to the left in the picture.
