Jobs of the Future
It’s a decade or two into the future. Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) is ubiquitous. Jobs we know now do not exist.

Went to join @Threads but it wants my Instagram persona who has carefully curated recreational spanish language and other feeds I like.

Don't want to corrupt that. What to do?????

Eugenics and it’s negative outcomes are a risk @transhumanism.bsky.social needs to deal with.

Cognitive difference is useful and vital. Killing them as misfits is a crime.

Fallibilism is important for many reasons.

An extra one is that fallibilistic thinking means you are better to strive for archetypal virtue than to assume you know it all.

Popper says in history, there is no science, only interpretations.

Is the meta-science of comparing interpretations therefore a means of defeating the culture wars and painting a nuanced and understanding picture of history?

It's taken me many years, but in the past month I've changed position on this. Elon and others were way ahead. I hope @Jack checks the science and doesn't stay wedded to short form.

Question to vegetarians and vegans:

Do you check how many animals die in your supply chain?

Consider eating Kanga. They are in plague, and being shot and piled up and burned.

Might as well eat them. No farming.

If BlueSky defines itself in terms of "pre-Elon Twitter" is that limiting?

If you give a man a fish, you are a saint.

If you teach him how to fish and tell him to catch his own freaking fish and feed his family, you are a capitalist pig-dog.

A lot of harm has come from the fetishization of the Good Samaritan.

GS might have saved one dude. But failed to call authorities, start a community intervention for bandits or even put up a ‘don’t travel alone’ warning sign.

Parable of the Talents does more for me. #UseYourGifts

#TrinityofEthics posits we should use all of Virtue Ethics, Deontology and Consequentialism in 'ensemble'.

On Consequentialist logic, the consequentialist spruikers should listen up.

Bear in mind the word "happiness" changed meaning since "the pursuit of happiness" became a meme in 1776.

It used to mean vocational life fulfilment.

Now it means hedonism and waste.

At least to some.

There's almost no bigger lie than a comparison that leaves out all the context, and paints a black and white 2D picture of a 4D rainforest.

Worse still, a compliance demand often follows.

Evidence filtering is a problem.

Question filtering is a bigger problem than evidence filtering.

Summarise the Bible in one sentence.

The imperative of transforming humanity and the creation by making laws in the Old Testament failed, but the Good News is spiritual transformation is possible through Christ.

The Zip boiler on our floor broke. So I've had to walk downstairs to the next kitchen.

Caught up with ppl I hadn't seen for years. Had to look some up on LinkedIn to remember their names.

Break your Zip boiler / coffee machine.

See old colleagues.

I got my complete DNA sequenced.

Several bits of advice are health-span and life-span extending.

The cancer risk I wanted checked doesn't exist :-), but two others are mildly elevated.

Cost $500 US, well spent!

Anyone else done this?

Everyone should (and will by the end of the decade)

Corporate took Admin rights off our computers.

My colleague wanted to install a bluetooth mouse. The request was denied.

He asked ChatGPT to respond in the voice of Shakespeare. Here's the first three of about a dozen paragraphs he sent to the CIO:

If we only have one “agent” doing everything for us, how do we verify its doing it all to the best?

Does it become a tool of central control?

Big day for Elon. Neuralink human trials FDA approved and Model Y biggest selling car globally.

Congrats are on order, even on this platform!

This article is old, but graphene is coming. If it gets to $20/kg it will compete with steel in construction.

If it gets to $10, steel will not be ised in skyscrapers. Habitable air pressure will limit height.

Improving our institutions must be done with thoughtfulness, care, compassion and respect.

Not the arrogance of certainties.

If you are certain you’re right, you are probably a danger.

Any change should be trialled and rolled back promptly if failing.

So much politics lacks scientific method.

Ideas becoming reality is the instantiation of a future we conceive as a global community.

Two of these are genetic therapies, one has the side benefit of actively and disproportionately improving the lives of African peoples.
