Retired academic. I am the liberal, feminist professor your parents warned you about. Lifelong Beatlemaniac. Currently rewatching West Wing, where the president is a decent being. I once wrote a lot of WW fanfic. She/her.
El is being moved up one grade in two subjects this semester because she’s just that smart. Yes, I am an obnoxiously proud aunt. Also, she knows the lyrics to Hey Jude, which makes me even more proud.

Dear lord, not Danny Concannon!

Forgot to mention: El now calls her mom’s girlfriend “my other mom” & Bro has started calling her his daughter-in-law. Re the Bro: Even the Trumpites can be taught!

Dec. 7 was the anniversary of my dad’s death. Hits me hard every year. Sending you all my love.

Great surprise! Bro came up for last minute shopping & brought El with him! Today is her birthday (6), & this is her Christmas w/her dad, so her Mom is doing her Santa tomorrow night. So it was an extra special gift for me.

El has just discovered Star Wars. @cynicgrrl.bsky.social , any recommendations for reading materials for a 6 -year-old girl?

Guess who has to have eye surgery in February. According to my ophthalmologist, only 10% of people who have cataract surgery develop a film over said eye. I’m in the 10%. ( Heavy sigh)

2/2. Newsflash for those who didn’t live through those years. That’s Cynthia Powell Lennon, wife of John, mother of Julian. Fans from those years loved her &remember her. No offense to John and his second wife, but Cyn was an important part of the story. Let’s not write her out of the narrative.

Been watching Beatles Anthology. Gee, who was that blonde lady following John when they were in America. It was almost as though John was married before he met Yoko, something producer Sean Ono Lennon wants you to forget. 1/2

It’s so bloody cold here. Also, it’s snowing. Which is early in the season for this place.

Mom worked so hard to try to improve the environment. All those years of fighting Big Anti-union Coal. She’d be so angry at how things are going now.

So women, people of color, etc., need not apply? I used to be proud of the progress we’d made since my childhood, but it looks like we’re back in the 1950s.

The only excuse Lois Lane has for why her interviewing Superman isn't unethical, despite their romantic entanglement, is that it would be even more unethical for the paper's other top reporter, who is Superman, to interview himself, yet she cannot say this. This dilemma should be taught in J-school.

Still one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen on TV. Also? 40 years? Lord, I’m old.
40 years ago tonight, on Oct. 15, 1985, ABC aired an episode of MOONLIGHTING that became an instant classic— “The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice.” It was a love letter to old Hollywood and the noir films of the era.

I celebrated my birthday by watching Beatles’64 on Disney. It was like watching my teenage years flash before my eyes.

I’m definitely watching my all-time favorite movie tonight. And, yes, I am sobbing.

The power cord to my iPad died, forcing me offline for three days. So glad to be back to the 21st century!

This one may actually get me back inside a movie theater for the first time since Covid.
