Who's noting (nay, admiring!) Jim Katzaman's (@jkatzaman.bsky.social) pre-recorded answers to today's #DigiBlogChat?

I don't know!! I use Safari for almost everything and I use DuckDuckGo for search (but they have a browser too, which I probably could be using).
Q8. Which web browsers give you the most online privacy? #DigiBlogChat

Questions like this (essentially, on our trust in specific providers) are interesting. It's like that people have quite different levels of trust in different providers.
Q7. Would you want to prevent Google from recording your private conversations? #DigiBlogChat

I agree with the points others are making, especially about passwords and multi-factor authentication.

What, on Earth, have @apple.com done to the Safari user interface on iOS?!?!
It used to work quite well, now it’s unintuitive and takes numerous clicks/swipes to do anything.
AND the upgrade to 26.2 lost all my tab groups!!

Well, we could forget computer programming / software as we know it. There were analog computers and they could do interesting things, but .... 🤯
Q10. If we had to go fully analog tomorrow, what do you think would change the most for you? #DigiBlogChat

Reportedly, when Steve Jobs told Apple designers/developers to produce a device which people would prefer to take with them than their wallet, they didn't understand him!!
Q8. What do you miss most from life before everything became digitized? #DigiBlogChat

Although I do hear/know that this should be the case, I don't think that I "get" it. Either it doesn't change anything, or (actually more likely) I don't do it enough to experience the change!
Q3. How does writing by hand change how you think and learn? #DigiBlogChat

Sorry, but none! I went many (15?) years without wearing a watch, but fairly recently relented.
I do recall that the battery did not need recharging!
Q2. What benefits have you noticed from wearing an analog versus digital watch? #DigiBlogChat

Oooff! that's broad question?! ... but what?
Not clocks (analog(ue) is inaccurate)!
I'm not operating a car, but maybe cars! Having, over years, had a chip cause a breakdown and a dealer try to fleece me for a new ECU, maybe cars (hopefully injection or even back to carburettors)!
Q1. Is there a digital app that you'd happily delete or wish you could switch back to analog? #DigiBlogChat
January 13, 2026 at 8:12 PM
I second that commotion! #DigiBlogChat
Thank you, Jim, for your write-ups of the #DigiBlogChat ... chats.
IMHO you provide a much better overview of the whole conversation than (m)any of us saw at the time!

Yes, in the last year, I've done a fair amount of learning about software technologies for implemented something in the cloud. It's about time I deployed something!

Not my resolutions! But am using AI for other things, particularly software development. It's not cheap, or always accurate, but it's saving me a lot to time.
Q4. Will you use AI to help you compose your resolutions? Why or why not? #DigiBlogChat
