Yeh, for example narcotics. However there is a significant difference between smuggling goods which are legal to avoid paying duties and smuggling goods which are illegal. #DigiBlogChat

Well, it was very lucrative and, often, in the 18th and 19th centuries, the government forces (typically navy) supposed to be preventing it would collude with the smugglers. #DigiBlogChat

As I understand it, pircacy is stealing goods, usually from ships at sea. Smuggling is trading goods with willing foreign buyers and sellers to avoid customs duties (sorry, I mean "tariffs"!!) #DigiBlogChat
