November reading was a bit darker…

This is from last week’s 5K, and probably the best running photo taken of me in the last decade. Trying to get back in shape without hurting myself. #Running

October reading. #booksky 📚💙 “Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng” probably should be rated higher - any rate, it’s the book that has stuck most in my mind as the month ends.

September reading wrap up — a fantasy-heavy month. R.F. Kuang’s latest is fabulous, no surprise. 📚💙

June reading. Three five-star books. #booksky 💙📚

Loving the #Murderbot show, but am I the only one hope to see a “Sanctuary Moon” bonus episode? We’d only be talking about 22 more minutes. 🙏🌖 #booksky

May reading recap. I have made a list of Pulitzer and Hugo winners. (No surprise, I have read a lot more of the Hugo awardees.) I’m not committing to reading both lists completely, but I’ve got them, so…. maybe? Also, is there a Hugo equivalent for horror? #horrorbooks #booksky 📚💙

My daughter got me this 3D Sakura book-nook puzzle for my birthday. It took my son about three weekends to put it together. #booksky 📚💙

It is my firm belief that a bookstore gift card includes implied permission to spend a little above the limit, if your spouse sends you to the store alone. @sgj.bsky.social @scalzi.com @chucktingle.bsky.social 📚💙

Seemed like a good month for horror. And everyone’s already said it, but “Buffalo Hunter Hunter” … just awesome. #booksky 📚💙 #storygraph

Terry Pratchett bookshelf is complete, for now. What next? “Long Earth” series or “Only You Can Save Mankind” series? If I turn the Paul Kidby book, I think I can fit one or the other of them. 📚💙 #booksky #Pratchett #Discworld

Just finished “Rivers of London.” I really enjoyed it; looking forward to checking out the rest of the series. 📚💙 #booksky

Okay, reposting a second time to get the tags right. Also posting the blank for others to use, because this was fun. #thisorthat #booksky 💙📚

Read a lot of books this year and found four “new-to-me” authors I love:
- N.K. Jemison
- Abby Jimenez
- John Gwynne
- Matt Dinnaman
The best thing about discovering established authors not having to wait for the next book. Those four authors accounted for 20 of the books I read in 2024. 💙📚

My Terry Pratchett collection is still coming together, but got this section sorted out. 💙📚

Near the end of 2021, I decided to read every book in the house. (I kept buying in the meantime.) This weekend I finished (with John Gwynne’s “The Fury of the Gods,” last book of a great trilogy) and my family surprised me with a cake! 📚💙

I discovered @joeabercrombie.bsky.social very late, but I’ve loved everything he’s written. Also, one of his dedications —to his wife with “grim, dark hugs” — may be the best dedication of all time.

I’m a sucker for found family books. I’ve probably read Becky Chambers’ “A Closed and Common Orbit” 10 times, not counting the times I just go right to the end for a quick ugly-cry. 💙📚

I get to work with a lot of impressive people, like Dr. Rebekah Gundry.
