Hands up all those who think one of the reasons Labor aren’t interested in changes to taxes as they apply to housing is that many of their MPs will be personally disadvantaged.

Just wow. I knew the coalition were in trouble electorally but this report, commissioned for a Liberal think tank, lays it out in stark detail.

AI strikes again. At this rate technology could see a backlash not seen since the 19th-century Luddites.

Gotta love South Australia. Pouring with rain, severe weather warning in place and with almost no solar at the moment, still manages 98.9% renewables over the past three days.

The Govt has published the sales of petrol for the first half of the year and there are some startling results…
. Overall, petrol sales down over 3%
. Distinct shift to higher quality fuel (to 98+ octane)
. Sales of ethanol blends dropped dramatically - over 11%

Why isn’t this a story?

Of course it’s raining in Adelaide - the Royal Adelaide Show starts on Saturday. Given that it’s such a rain magnet, why don’t they move it to the summer when we need the rain?

Browsing Google Maps reviews can be quite amusing. This is one of the recent best for Burnside Village in Adelaide.

The rest of the world seems to be entering a new phase of engagement with the US.

To start with the world was concerned about Trump’s actions. We worried about Americans and America’s place in world affairs.

Now, to be frank, we don’t care. We are working around the US. It’s becoming irrelevant.

Talking about road user reforms: how about removing the diesel fuel rebate, which gives nothing to roads while subsidising miners?

I have no problem paying a road user charge as long as it’s fair. And it’s not fair if it doesn’t:
1. Take account of how far people drive, and
2. Apply to all road users, including EVs, PHEVs, HEVs and ICEs. And mining and farm vehicles driven on roads.

This paints the stark picture that America really is a fading power. I've lived here long enough to know that Americans are beginning to reject new ideas, new technology, and efficiencies. It's a socioeconomic, cultural and political problem that's become deep rooted.

Just been talking to an AI expert who’s just turned down phenomenal salary because it would require him moving to the US.

“Too dangerous for my family”, he said.

With the US President now saying the nation’s capital is too dangerous to go out at night, this attitude isn’t going to change.
